In March this year, Mexico's car and light commercial vehicle production volume increased by 16.3 percent year on year to 277,314 units, according to the release from the Mexican Association of the Automotive Industry (AMIA). In the given month, the country's car and light vehicle exports increased by 12.9 percent year on year to 230,772 units.
Meanwhile in the first quarter of the current year, Mexico's car and light commercial vehicle production increased by 6.5 percent year on year to 774,731 units. In the given period, the country's car and light commercial vehicle exports increased by 8.6 percent year on year to 606,204 units.
In?the first three months this year, Mexico's exports of cars and light commercial vehicles to the US and Africa increased by 14.7 percent and 7.4 percent respectively, both year on year. Meanwhile, in the same period, year-on-year decreases were observed in exports to destinations such as Asia and Europe, down 10.2 percent and 45.2 percent respectively.
As for domestic sales, in March Mexico's cars and light commercial vehicle sales increased by 3.5 percent year on year to 85,682 units. In the first quarter of this year, 251,124 cars and light commercial vehicles were sold in the domestic market, up 1.6 percent year on year.
