British luxury carmaker Jaguar has unveiled the new 2014 XKR-S GT sedan at the 2013 New York International Auto Show in the US.

The new sedan is powered by a 5L V8 engine, which is mated to a to a six-speed ZF automatic transmission as well as an active electronically controlled rear differential, and generates an output of 550hp and 502lb-ft of torque.

Technologies including spray-guided direct injection (SGDI) and dual independent variable cam timing (DIVCT) will assist the engine in delivering enhanced performance and efficiency.

Additionally, the sedan comes with an improved exhaust system with valves that open under load to improve gas-flow and increase the power output.

The enhanced aerodynamic and suspension, in addition to revised calibration of traction control system, are aimed at allowing the sedan to sprint from 0-60mph in 3.9 seconds, while achieving a top speed of 186mph.

The electronic Pre-Fill system in collaboration with the DSC system will pressurize the brakes when driver leaves the throttle pedal and offer a short as well as consistent level of travel on the brake pedal, while maximising braking response.

A motorsport-derived twin spring system equipped in the sedan, which is mated to the Jaguar Adaptive Dynamics active damping system, allows dampers to be adjusted as per ride-height.

Features of the sedan's front and rear suspension include a wider front track, increased camber, revised bushings, a new steering system and faster steering ratio.

Developed by the Jaguar ETO division, the company is planning to produce only 30 2014 XKR-S GT for North America including 25 for the US and five for Canada.
